Eva Benedek joined the Center for Advanced Drug Development as a Chemist I. She has a Ph.D. degree in Physical Chemistry from the University of Szeged, Hungary. Eva has taught lab courses in general and physical chemistry and calculation practice in general and physical chemistry as a graduate teaching assistant for four years at the University of Szeged. She also worked for the TEVA Pharmaceutical Company in Hungary before coming to CADD. She is married and has a 2 year old daughter.

Denise Davis is a new secretary in the Clinical & Administrative Pharmacy Division and works in S557 Phar. Before coming to the College of Pharmacy she worked in the Dept. of Physics & Astronomy for several years. Her job entails being an assistant to the division head and the receptionist for the division. She also works with many faculty on and off-campus and assists them with their needs. When she is not at work she enjoys spending time outdoors and taking care of her acreage. She also enjoys gardening, spending time with her animals, anything fitness-related, and working out.

Kristen Dearden is the College’s Assistant Director of Educational Affairs for the Collaborative Education Institute (CE), a partnership between the College’s Division of Continuing Education and the Iowa Pharmacy Association. The CE seeks to empower pharmacists through programs of continuing education and professional development. Dearden will lead the planning and coordination of continuing education programs, including developing budgets, writing grants, marketing, and overall operations of the division. She was previously the IPA’s Manager of Public and Professional Affairs for 15 years. While at IPA, she worked on continuing education programs as well as administration and coordination
of projects such as the Iowa Center for Pharmaceutical Care, Technician
Certification in the State of Iowa, and most recently IPA’s 125th Anniversary
Celebration. Dearden is based out of Des Moines where she lives with her husband
and daughter. |

Lindsay Jones is a Clerk-Typist II in Pharmaceutical Service, and started this position in October, 2005. Her responsibilities include coordinating the building’s mail service, Pharm Service’s front office reception, recording batch production records, and assisting their IT manager (Ryan West). She has a BA in English and linguistics from the University of Iowa and an MA in linguistics from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Before returning to Iowa in August 2005, she was the database manager and conference assistant at the League of Oregon Cities in Salem, Oregon. She has also worked as a coordinator of summer camps, a teaching assistant, and a computer lab monitor. She is enjoying being back in Iowa near family and friends, and looking forward to getting married in September.

Rob Olson, joined the Center for Advanced Drug Development as a System Administrator and Systems Programmer II. Rob started with CADD on November 14th of 2005. He brings to the University of Iowa nearly 20 years of Electronics, Communications and Networking experience. A graduate of DeVry Institute of Technology in 1986, Rob also holds many industry and vendor certifications. He is also very proud of his wife of almost 20 years, his 18 year old daughter and 10 year old son. Rob looks forward to the challenges his new position will bring and his career at the University of Iowa.

Keary Saul is a new secretary in the Dean’s Office. She is responsible for coordinating the Dean’s schedule, and will be available from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm daily. Keary joins us after leaving the Department of Neurology at UIHC, where she was a secretary for Drs. Daniel Tranel and Antonio & Hanna Damasio. Working half-time here in the College of Pharmacy will allow her to return to school and complete her bachelor’s degree. |

Jerry Zieser joined CADD as a Chemist I on Sept. 5 2005. He is responsible for the testing of raw materials. Jerry previously worked as a Chemist I at Cardinal Health in Woodstock, IL. He attended Clarke College where he participated in college baseball and received a BS in Chemistry. When not working he enjoys playing basketball, fishing, camping, and other outdoor activities. |
