Wireless updates
In an effort to improve functionality and security and to prepare for future growth, a change was made to the UI Wireless service on Tuesday, August 2nd. All previous users of the UI Wireless service will be required to reconfigure their wireless software in order to access the network. Following is a summary of the changes:
- The network name changed from "UI Wireless" to "UI-Wireless-WEP". This is the Service Set Identifier (or SSID) that your wireless software will detect when in range of UI Wireless hot spots. The existing UI Wireless authentication protocols, TTLS and LEAP, are no longer supported. Wireless access for Palm devices is no longer available on the University wireless network. The supported authentication for Windows machines is now PEAP-MS-CHAP v2 (Microsoft Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol version 2). The supported authentication for Macintosh machines is PEAP.
- The Certificate Authority was upgraded.
