ASP:
Spring 2005's annual meeting in Orlando proved to be one of the greatest pharmacy career experiences yet for chapter officers and student members. Word of mouth is spreading the good word and those who could not attend this year are already planning to attend the annual meeting in San Francisco in 2006! The patient care project seminar relating specifically to Operation Diabetes, Operation Immunization and Heartburn Awareness left all coordinators with a renewed and energized spirit. ASP is brainstorming about how to improve projects and provide more outreach. On May 13th, the chapter held a retreat to plan for the Fall 05 semester.
One event in particular the chapter has decided to emulate from the APhA annual meeting is the Senior Outreach Event. They have already spoken to the Iowa Pharmacy Association about providing educational opportunities for Iowa pharmacists and student pharmacists. At this time they are working with the Iowa City Senior Center to provide a similar event this Fall by providing Medicare D education and health information sessions. |
