unavilable Mahfoud Assem-PharmD, PhD, assistant professor of clinical and administrative pharmacy, received both his PharmD (1995) and PhD (2000) with specialization in genetics and molecular biology at the University of Burgundy (Dijon, France). In 2000, he joined Dr. Erin Schuetz’ laboratory within Dr. William Evan’s department at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (Memphis, Tenn.) as a postdoc and then as a staff scientist in pharmacogenetics and pharmacogenomics. His research focuses on the genetic and environmental regulation of drug metabolism, with an emphasis on the role of genetic polymorphisms in drug response and efficacy.

richmond Christi Richmond - is a Chemist III for the Center for Advanced Drug Development (CADD), a division of Pharmaceutical Services (PS). At CADD, she works on developing and validating methods for new drug products that are manufactured by PS for contract clients. Christi received her B.S. in Chemistry from Concord College in Athens, WV. She is originally from West Virginia, however, has been living in Muscatine for the past 1 1/2 years. Her hobbies include taking care of her cats, gardening, and golfing.

Buffy Stohs - is a Research Assistant for Jennifer Fiegel, in Pharmaceutics.
wiser Anne Wiser - is a Reasearch Assistant II for the office of academic affairs under Hazel Seaba. She is currently working on 2 projects, 1 on Hazel's "Management Sciences for Health" grant and the second assisting the COP's assessment committee and curriculum committee with research and other projects including curriculum mapping. She states that she loves this job and the people that works with. She has a husband, Jim, and 2 little girls (Nikita 5 and Olivia 4). She was born and raised in France, and is a movie fan addicted to Netflix. She also enjoys gourmet food and modern dance.
unavilable Yang Xie-MPH, PhD, assistant professor of clinical and administrative pharmacy, comes to Iowa from Stony Brook University where he received his PhD in economics last year. He has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Tianjin University of Commerce (China). Xie’s research interests are in the areas of clinical outcomes research, health economics, health policy, and health services research. In his current research he is looking at how different levels of information asymmetry between patients and health care providers affect the utilization and treatment choices in a patient consumerism environment; and the learning-by-doing effect in health care provider. He is also applying econometric tools methods to study cancer treatment outcome and effectiveness. Xie’s hobbies include photography, travel and sports.
