GRADUATE STUDENTS RECEIVE AFPE AWARDS

Graduate student to receive aaps fellowship
Ira Buckner, a graduate student in the College of Pharmacy, was selected to receive an American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) pre-doctoral fellowship in the pharmaceutical sciences. The award was presented at the AAPS 2006 Annual Meeting and Exposition Oct. 29 in San Antonio. This fellowship is given to students who show outstanding promise in a pre-doctoral graduate program. Buckner has been the recipient of several awards and fellowships including the UI College of Pharmacy’s Keith Guillory Pharmaceutics Graduate Fellowship and a UI Presidential Graduate Fellowship.

AAPS is a professional scientific society of 13,000 members employed in academia, industry, government and other research institutes worldwide. AAPS offers timely scientific programs, ongoing education, information resources and opportunities for networking and professional development.

Graduate student reception
The College of Pharmacy welcomed new and returning Graduate Students at the graduate student reception on Thursday, August 17th. MS and PhD candidates gathered for good food and conversation as the new students were introduced.
