Job Description: The FMCP, in collaboration with the AMCP, is now accepting applications for twelve internship positions for the 2010 AMCP/FMCP/Pfizer Inc Managed Care Pharmacy Summer Internship Program and for two internship positions for the 2010 AMCP/FMCP/Allergan, Inc Specialized Summer Internship Program in Health Outcomes. The goal of the programs is to enhance a student pharmacist’s knowledge of managed care pharmacy practice principles and health outcomes research by direct hands-on involvement at managed health care system and health outcomes research experiential sites. The AMCP/FMCP/Pfizer program places one intern at ten managed care organizations and two VA medical centers. The AMCP/FMCP Allergan program places two interns in the Allergan Global Health Outcomes Group at its headquarters in Irvine, CA.
The selection process is highly competitive. To be eligible for the AMCP/FMCP Summer Internship Programs, a student pharmacist must be enrolled full-time in their second or third professional year at an ACPE accredited school or college of pharmacy during the 2009-2010 academic year, with anticipated graduation in 2011 or 2012 with a PharmD degree. Three letters of reference must be supplied with each application, one from the dean of the school, one from a pharmacist faculty member and one from a non-relative pharmacist. A student pharmacist may apply for both programs in the same year. However, separate applications and letters of reference are required for each program. Applications must be submitted online and letters of reference with attached application copies must be postmarked by February 1, 2010.
