LAYING THE FOUNDATION
Dear UI College of Pharmacy Contributors:

Graduates of the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy are transforming pharmaceutical care by using the latest research, teaching, and technology. These dedicated women and men help develop ideas and innovations that will improve health care for us all.

By providing generous private support, through the University of Iowa Foundation, contributors like you can help UI pharmacy alumni reach new levels of excellence. That’s why I value the opportunity, in my role as associate director of development for the UI College of Pharmacy, to work with alumni and friends like you in giving Iowa pharmacy students the best educational experiences possible.

Together, we can strengthen the field’s connections between patients and professionals, research and resources. We also can enhance UI pharmacy students’ educational opportunities by supporting everything from vital student scholarships and cutting-edge technology to first-rate equipment and valuable student organizations.

On behalf of everyone in the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy, I want to thank you for your generous support. Each and every gift like yours helps the College fulfill its mission of providing outstanding teaching, research, and service.

I welcome the opportunity to talk with you about how you can continue to support any area or program within the College of Pharmacy, and I also would be glad to discuss the many ways in which you can make your gift. I look forward to working with you in making a difference for future generations of UI pharmacists—and for all those whom they will help.

Sincerely,
Kate Carinder

WAYS TO SUPPORT THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA COLLEGE OF PHARMACY
Annual Giving
Each year, alumni and friends give generously to the College of Pharmacy. These gifts, of all sizes, provide unrestricted funds—a pool of resources that can easily be directed by the College of Pharmacy to meet its most critical needs. You may give online at www.givetoiowa.org/pharmacy.

Stock Gifts
Gifts of marketable stocks or mutual fund shares that have appreciated can have an immediate impact for the College of Pharmacy—and can create an immediate income tax deduction for you based on the assets’ value.

Matching Gifts
Many contributors multiply their support for the College of Pharmacy by making use of their employer’s matching gift programs. The College of Pharmacy is grateful to these companies and foundations for their generosity. To find out if your company participates in a matching program, ask your human resources department or search the UI Foundation’s online database of companies that match gifts at www.uifoundation.org/matching.

Gift Planning
One of the most effective means of giving to the College of Pharmacy is a planned gift. Gift planning is the process of carefully selecting the best methods and assets for making a gift, such as cash, stocks, bonds, real estate, life insurance, trusts and bequests. A planned gift can enable you to assist the College of Pharmacy in its mission of education, research and service, while also reducing your burden of income, capital gains, or estate taxes.

Honorary and Memorial Gifts
A gift in memory or honor of a professor, student, relative, or friend is a generous and thoughtful way to recognize a person’s life and accomplishments. When an honorary or memorial gift is made, the UI Foundation will notify the honoree or next of kin (if requested), and the gift is administered as the contributor specifies. Honorary and memorial gifts may be made online at www.uiowafoundation.org.
