assisting the college
You can help out in many different ways. All are very valuable to the College of Pharmacy and its students. Some people choose to be a preceptor for the next generation of pharmacists. Some serve on one of the boards and offer ideas. Others volunteer by encouraging classmates to attend Homecoming or another reunion event. Thankfully, many of you also choose to support the college and the students financially. Without all of these working together, we wouldn’t be able to offer the high quality education we do to students.
Being a Preceptor
If you would like to be personally involved in preparing student pharmacists for successful careers in pharmacy, please consider volunteering as a preceptor, As a preceptor, you will teach students in your practice setting and become an adjuct faculty member of the College of Pharmacy. You will also receive reduced prices on continuing education courses, and be granted access to a variety of drug information resources. Click here for more information about being a preceptor.
HELP WITH AN EVENT
The COP Alumni Coordinator is always looking for willing alumni to help work on a reunion. You can contact classmates, offer suggestions for what programs you’d like to see at Homecoming, host an alumni reception in your area, or even suggest your own idea for an event.
Some ideas include; family day at the ball park, networking session after work or getting a group together to volunteer at a local clinic. Just send an email to cop-alumni@uiowa.edu or call 319-355-8780. For a list of upcoming COP alumni events click here.
