College of Pharmacy Staff Council (COPSC) - bylaws
Article 1: Name
The name of this organization shall be the College of Pharmacy Staff Council (COPSC).
Article II: Membership
- The COPSC is an elected body that represents staff members in the College of Pharmacy. This group is composed of non-organized Professional & Scientific and Merit Exempt personnel holding a regular appointment of 50% or more within the College.
- The COPSC shall consist of eight members. Representation will be comprised of two members from each service division and two members from the academic/College administration divisions. The senior Human Resources Leader will serve as an Ad Hoc COPSC member.
- If the COPSC forms subcommittees to support their activities, membership on the COPSC is not required and all staff members should be encouraged to join a subcommittee.
Article III: Nomination and Election of Members
The nomination and election process shall be organized and completed under the direction of the Chair of the COPSC annually each June/July with terms beginning in August/September. The newly elected members will be invited to the August/September meeting which will serve as a transition between the two councils. Council members will serve either a one or two year term.
If no one is nominated from a particular division, the COPSC will have discretion to fill the open seat.
Article IV: Officers and Administrative Liaison
There will be two officers: a Council Chairperson and a Secretary each serving one-year terms. Members of the COPSC will select the officers. Duties of the officers or designees: the Chairperson will officiate at the meetings and be responsible for keeping the COP Staff Council Website up to date and the Secretary will take and distribute meeting minutes and distribute meeting reminders and memos to other committee members.
The COP Senior Human Resource Leader will serve the COPSC as an Ad Hoc committee member and Administrative Liaison.
One member of the COPSC will be appointed for a one year term to attend the COP College Council meetings.
Article V: Meetings
Meetings will be held bi-monthly at a COP facility. Meeting dates and times will be posted on the website and visitors to the meeting are welcome.
In order to transact business, at least three council members must be present. To carry a motion, the majority present must vote in favor of it.
Article VI: Amendments
These bylaws may be amended at the regular monthly meeting of the Council by a two-thirds vote of council members present, provided that the amendment has been introduced to the council at the previous regular meeting.
Article VIII: News/Communication with Staff
Meeting minutes will be published on the COPSC website. A list of meeting dates and times will also appear there as well as a Suggestion Box for employee input.
