Professional experience Program

The Professional Experience Program (PEP) is an administrative component of the Division of Clinical and Administrative Pharmacy that develops and manages the experiential portion of the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum.  The experiential component makes up over 30% of the curriculum. Several hundred Introductory Practice Experiences (IPE) are currently delivered in a progressive manner during the first three years of the doctor of pharmacy curriculum. Advanced Practice Experience (APE) courses are completed by each student in their final year and consist of five required and four elective, five-week practice experiences.  These nearly one thousand advanced practice experiences are delivered by college faculty and adjunct faculty preceptors from Iowa, the U.S., and around the world.
