Participate as an active member in The Consortium for
the Advancement of Medication Information, Policy, and
Research (CAMIPR). This Consortium is a national group
of drug information leaders in practice and academics.
The primary mission of this group is to define and secure
the future of medication information specialty practice.
The goals of the group include fostering inter- and intradisciplinary
collaborative efforts for education growth, research and
scholarly activity particularly in the areas of: outcomes
management, medication use policy development, critical
pathway and clinical practice guideline development, and
use of technology for information management. |

| Research
anD scholarly interests |
|
Conducted an evaluation of the pharmacy
benefits of the North Carolina Medicaid Program in conjunction
with a study prepared by The Lewin Group and the West
Virginia Medical Institute. I provided specific recommendations
regarding generic medication use, prior authorization
programs for eight medications, and encouraged expansion
of medication therapy management services from pharmacists.
This study and report were prepared at the request of
the State of North Carolina General Assembly. |

Development of an internet based drug information
network to link the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy
with community pharmaceutical care practice sites and
family practice sites. This network provides access to
computerized full text and bibliographic drug and medical
information databases, access to expert drug information
consultation for patient specific questions, and electronic
communications to facilitate exchange of information and
ideas among network members to advance the practice of
pharmaceutical care in the community setting New methods
of continuing education were implemented and evaluated
which were designed to improve the drug informatics and
literature evaluation skills of community pharmacists
and other practitioners providing pharmaceutical care.
This Network also serves as a clinical clerkship experiential
training site for students. |

Development of education methods and programs to teach
drug informatics skills and literature evaluation skills
to practitioners in pharmaceutical care. Development
and implementation methods of evidence based clinical
practice guidelines and disease management programs.
Methods for decision making in drug use policy development.
Use of information resources and systems to improve
quality of health care, and patient safety. |
